 About

The First Note

Our primary purpose is to help female singers over the age of 50 love their voice for the rest of their life.

The fundamentals of Alexander Technique, proven vocal methods, and whole body modalities are the foundation of what we do.

What we do

Our holistic approach stems from:

  1.  Constructive Thinking.  One of FM Alexander’s discoveries was how we talk to ourselves.  How you talk to yourself matters in everything you do.  You will learn about the power of constructive thinking (distinct from positive thinking) and how self-kindness can help engender vocal freedom.

  2. Cooperating With Our Design – Our holistic anatomy-based approach will show you how to actively cooperate with your body’s design and to access the innate vocal freedom that is in all of us.

Our Community

Community - We believe people learn best in supportive groups and communities. Our experience has shown that belonging to a like-minded community can make a dramatic difference in a singer’s outlook, attitude and progress. We are here to foster support, warmth and kindness!

What we are not

Voice Lessons – Lisa and Tracy are seasoned voice teachers, however this non-traditional approach addresses areas that are often not addressed in traditional voice lessons.

What we teach

In The Ageless Singer online courses you can expect to learn about:

  • Voice & Body Awareness = Freedom

  • Free and Efficient Breathing

  • Effective Practicing

  • Performing Confidence

  • Coordinated Use of the body

  • Constructive Thinking & Self Kindness

  • Mind-Body-Voice Connection

The techniques used are comprised of:

  • Principles of the Alexander Technique

  • Anatomy & Physiology, including body mapping

  • Proven vocal techniques, including Bel Canto

  • Modern Neuroscience

The Whole Singer

We address every aspect of what it means to be a successful singer – mind, body, spirit and voice.  In our programs, you will learn that you sing and perform best when you acknowledge that you are one, whole integrated self.

A Commitment to Constructive Thinking

Constructive thinking is more than "positive thinking". Constructive thinking generates and identifies what you do want rather than what you do not want.

Constructive thinking forms the basis of YES Plans, which are step-by-step guides for singing and performing success.

Community

Being with other women who are experiencing similar changes gives us an opportunity to discuss them openly.  The Ageless Singer (TAS) is a safe place for everyone to share openly, sing without fear of judgement and support each other in learning.

Celebration is Essential for Learning

We believe that singers thrive when they are nurtured and supported versus criticized and put down.

At TAS, you will learn how to cultivate greater self-kindness by consciously celebrating your efforts and achievements, no matter how big or small.

Instead of focusing on your voice exclusively, you will learn an integrated approach that encompasses all areas of your vocal artistry.  From these classes you will have a greater understanding of:

  • How to release unnecessary body tension

  • Allowing freer movement of your rib cage to allow for more breath

  • Finding greater confidence through accessing your full breathing capacity

Alexander Technique is:

Awareness of the body

Constructive use of the body

Constructive thoughts about the body

Release your head, so that it floats up and away from your spine.

It’s not correcting your posture, it’s releasing!

We’d love to hear from you!
