About Ali:
Ali Vernasco is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and singer in Chicago. As a singer, Ali has performed with professional ensembles and is employed as a cantor at various churches in the Chicago area. Ali has been practicing social work since 2011. Having worked in various settings, Ali is currently completing a certificate to become a Somatic Experience Practitioner to complement her work as a therapist by bringing attention to the body, how trauma is stored in the body, and how to work with the nervous system to establish a sense of safety.
About this Course:
In this class, we will learn about the nervous system and its functions, as well as the Polyvagal Theory. We will explore trauma, as it relates to the experience of singing for and with others, and ways to find a felt sense of safety in various situations. We will learn some grounding exercises to take with you and discuss how your nervous system reacts in different situations and how that might impact your own experience as a singer and in the world.
This 75 minute class will be recorded for private viewing only.
